Final Fantasy IX is one of my favourite JRPG of all times. I have tons of very fond memories with it. Since my work as a concept artist has recently make me work on many remakes of old school games, I wanted to imagine how I would tackle this assignement for another game that I love : FFIX.

In this video I walk you through my thought process, how I make some of my artistic choices for this image, and talk a bit about the game. To be completely fair, I think Final fantasy IX is such an artistic success that I don't think there's really any needs for a remake whatsoever. It's simply really fun to reimagine a scene from the game with my own vision.

The scene depicts the ship crashed in the middle of the forest with one of the cast members Cina going around fixing things, helping people, and being a handy man overall trying to manage the aftermath of the event. The player, incarnating Zidane is free to get in and out of the Ship to talk to other characters, find treasures or go on an adventure in the Evil forest to rescue his newly made friends...
